Selling at Rose Galleries
As
a seller at an auction, there is no limit to the price that may be
achieved. Since an auction is an open forum where competitive bidding
allows articles to achieve fair market price, both buyers and sellers
can be assured they are receiving true value.
If you want to realize the value of antiques, collectibles, or
other items that you no longer wish to keep, Rose Galleries can help
you sell it conveniently and in complete confidence. Our auctions
provide an efficient and rapid turn-around market for valued antiques,
fine home furnishings, jewelry and works of art from all eras. When
you sell through Rose Galleries, you have the advantage of an
experienced team of professionals managing every aspect of your sale.
Auctions are our only business and we know how to make them work.
Property can often be sold within a few weeks, unless it could be
more profitable to wait until a more suitable auction. Our general
antique and estate auctions are held every Wednesday, featuring items
such as furniture, fine and collectable bronzes, clocks, watches,
jewelry, dolls, weapons, oriental items, books, stamps, coins, music
boxes, oriental rugs, sterling, stained glass, pottery, lamps, Art
Deco, Art Nouveau, brass, copper, pewter, buttons and other
collectable items. Fine jewelry auctions are held the last Monday of
each month, except in December. Our monthly jewelry auctions are
presented on color television monitors. Other specialty auctions are
occasionally held on Saturdays and focus on fine and extensive
collections of just one of the above listed categories.
Commission Rates
The commission is 15% and $10 for the first $5,000 and 10% on the
amount exceeding $5,000 for each lot. $5 per lot additional charge
for items posted on internet live auctions.
Consignors are paid 30 days following the sale date, with a
printout of all items sold.
Appraisals / Auction Estimates
Accurate
evaluation is important when selling items of
value. Objects intended
for sale can be appraised without charge at our gallery. Our
specialists will discuss with you realistic pre-auction estimates,
which are the approximate prices we expect your goods to achieve. If
you wish to have your items appraised, bring in what is portable, or
bring clear photographs along with dimensions, artist's signatures, or
maker's mark, medium, physical condition, and any other relevant
information. To be sure that the appropriate appraiser will be
available when you come in, we advise you to make an appointment.
(phone 651-484-1415) You might wish to have an estimate done at your
home, especially if you have a large or diverse collection. There may
be a
fee for this service, but if you consign to Rose Galleries, part of
this fee can be refunded.
Reserves
A client may set reserves, or minimum selling prices, on the
advisement of our appraisers. Usually reserves are set only on items
valued at more than $1,000. We discourage reserves below this since
our experience has shown that reserves may inhibit spontaneous and
active bidding. The minimum handling charge for any object that does
not sell is $50.00.
